A huge shoutout to these 5 student-athletes for their dedication and commitment to our spring leadership group, “Head of the Herd!”

These young men showed incredible leadership by attending our Thursday morning meetings at 6:30 a.m. in the HS Library over the last two months. Together, the group discussed challenges student-athletes face and worked to develop positive solutions to help improve our school and teams.

Coach Kliethermes wanted to recognize these 5 students for having the highest attendance of any participants throughout the spring leadership sessions. Their commitment to showing up consistently, growing as leaders, and making an impact does not go unnoticed.

Thank you for setting the example and continuing to lead the way, Pintos! 🐴💙

Our JAG students had an amazing opportunity to travel to Wonders of Wildlife in Springfield for a behind-the-scenes career field trip!

Students explored the many career paths that help keep a facility like Wonders of Wildlife running, including animal care, education, guest services, operations, and more.

This experience helped students see how teamwork, communication, responsibility, and professionalism are used in real-world careers every day.

We are proud of our students for representing California High School so well and for taking full advantage of this incredible learning opportunity! 💙

Mrs. Loring’s Personal Finance class had a fun, full-circle moment to wrap up this Friday! ✈️🌎

One of the group projects in the Budgeting Unit in Personal Finance is called “Plan My Vacation.” Mrs. Loring’s current students just started this project this week. Last year was her first year doing it, and quite literally, she had students plan her actual vacation! (She got this idea from another Personal Finance teacher!)

Her family is trying to experience as many National Parks as possible together before their oldest graduates in four years. She told last year’s students that she would pick one of their parks, plans, and budgets and actually go on the trip.

Nine 11th graders WON! They all included Hot Springs, Arkansas as at least one of the National Parks on their route, and that’s where they chose to go.

Mrs. Loring told the students she would bring back “a little something” for the winners. While in Hot Springs this past July, Mrs. Loring and her husband, Scott, visited a shop called “It’s About Rocks” on the main strip and picked up colorful river rocks as a small gift for the students and a visual reminder of the importance of budgeting for travel.

Now current students keep asking if their trip will be the one chosen next… time will tell! 😉

This is a project Mrs. Loring looks forward to continuing for many years to come!
